Artist Statement

Genre: Impressionism using Oils on Canvas

For as long as I can recall I gravitated to writing as my central form of expression.  I could think of no greater vicarious experience towards positive change for the planet until I started to paint.  This was by no means an easy endeavour.   After tedious experimentation with watercolours and acrylics I had almost given up until one day by accident I attempted working with oils.  Painting with oils offered me a freedom in the creation process and allowed me to work patiently and at my own pace. I believe that the illuminated mind builds on inspiration and is contagious to the onlooker.  This is why I sign all my paintings as “Nur” meaning “light” which is attributed to my philosophy in life and greater sense of purpose.
